What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a plain-text file placed at the root of a website that gives large language models a concise, structured summary of the site and links to its most important pages. It is a proposed convention rather than an enforced standard, and unlike robots.txt it does not control access — it offers context, helping AI systems describe a business accurately.
What it is not
llms.txt is not robots.txt. It grants no permissions and blocks no crawlers. If you want to control AI crawler access, that is still a robots.txt directive or a server rule.
