PageSpeed Optimisation

Make the page fast on the phone your customer actually holds.

What is PageSpeed Optimisation?

PageSpeed optimisation is the work of making a page load and become usable quickly, measured by Google's Core Web Vitals: Largest Contentful Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift and Interaction to Next Paint. It matters because Google uses page experience as a ranking signal, and because slow pages lose visitors before they ever see the offer — most of whom are on a mid-range phone, not the desktop the site was designed on.

Most speed problems are not mysterious. They are uncompressed hero images, render-blocking stylesheets, fonts loading without a fallback, layout that jumps as ads and embeds arrive, and third-party tags nobody has audited since they were added.

The honest part most agencies skip: your achievable score has a ceiling set by your platform and your commercial choices. A Shopify store running a chat widget, a review app and three ad pixels cannot reach the same number as a static site, and pretending otherwise wastes your money. We measure what is actually costing you, separate what a developer can fix from what you would have to give up, and tell you which is which before you spend anything.

We hold ourselves to the same standard: aidigitalmarketings.com.au scores 100 for Performance on both mobile and desktop in Google's own PageSpeed Insights, with the report linked publicly on our homepage rather than described in a case study.

What you get

  • Core Web Vitals passing on mobile, which is where most local search happens
  • A measured before-and-after you can reproduce yourself at pagespeed.web.dev
  • A clear split between developer fixes, business trade-offs and platform limits
Proof, not a promise

Included

What PageSpeed includes

Every engagement is scoped to your situation, but these are the components we work through.

01

Real PageSpeed Insights baseline

Mobile and desktop, on your key templates rather than the homepage alone — templates fail differently, and the homepage score tells you nothing about the pages that actually convert.

02

Core Web Vitals diagnosis

LCP, CLS and INP measured against Google's own thresholds, with the specific blocking resource named for each: the exact image, script or stylesheet responsible, not a generic recommendation.

03

Field data, not just lab data

Where your traffic is sufficient, we read the CrUX field data Google actually uses for its page experience assessment. Lab scores are for diagnosing; field data is what counts.

04

Image and font pipeline

Modern formats, correct sizing, explicit width and height to stop layout shift, and fonts that render text immediately instead of leaving a blank space while they download.

05

Render-blocking and script work

Critical CSS handled properly, non-essential JavaScript deferred, and unused code removed rather than shipped and ignored.

06

Third-party tag audit

Every chat widget, pixel and embed costed in milliseconds, so you can decide what earns its place. Some will; that is a business call and we present it as one.

PageSpeed Optimisation — common questions

01Can you guarantee a PageSpeed score of 100?

No, and be cautious of anyone who does. Your ceiling is set by your platform and the third-party tools you have chosen to run — a site with a chat widget, a booking embed and ad pixels has a real limit that no amount of optimisation removes. We tell you the achievable range after measuring, name exactly what is holding the number down, and let you decide which trade-offs are worth making. In Australia an unqualified guarantee of a perfect score is also misleading conduct under the Australian Consumer Law.

02Does page speed actually affect Google rankings?

Yes, but as one signal among many rather than the deciding one. Core Web Vitals are part of Google's page experience signals. In practice the larger commercial effect is usually on conversion rather than position: visitors abandon slow pages before they read anything, so the traffic you already have converts worse than it should.

03My score is different every time I test it. Why?

Because the mobile score is a throttled simulation, and it varies run to run on identical code — we routinely see the same page move several points across consecutive tests. That is why we look at the range and at real-user field data rather than treating a single run as the truth, and why we record which run any published figure came from.

04Do I need this if my site is on Shopify or Wix?

Usually yes, but with realistic expectations. Both platforms have known limits you cannot engineer around, so the work concentrates on what is genuinely in your control — images, apps, theme code and third-party tags. We will tell you honestly if the remaining gain is too small to be worth paying for.
